Long time no activity!

Please check the UPDATES section of this journal. Thank you.

This is a community created for the fellow deviantART members whose habitation is or will be a cardboard box.

To join, the participant should possess only one thing; A cardboard box. Whether it is a big or small box, if you can fit and live in it, you’re Welcome to join the commune. You must give us some sort of notification that you are joining: either by a comment on our page or through a note. Just watching the club is not enough to be declared a member.

If there is anything box related that you would like to submit into our gallery, remember to note us. If it's one of the "in a box" photos that our members are doing, we need to know the location and date it was taken. Thank you for your cooperation.

Well hello again, members of this community!

All admins have been absent for a looong time, I apologize for that. Seems that inventing things for a club like this to actually do is more difficult than commonly thought...
So once again, dear members, suggestions are welcomed! If you have idea for a competition, or just some other project that might inspire other members, now is the time to tell!

Some people have been asking to be added, I've done that now and replied to everyone, but you can also note me, =juuhanna, about joining this club if this place falls inactive again for a while.
That way I'll notice your request straight away and will add you.
Also, if you have photos of yourselves in cardboardboxes, please note us!! We would be delighted to add them into our gallery!

-=juuhanna

The community took place in our founder =vernavulpes’s mind in the year 2004 as she came to realise that future has nothing more to offer her, but a cardboard box where to live in and shake her fist at passing by people.
While she’s at it, why not have a commune of cardboard boxes, where people could gather and yell threats at the middle-class passer-bys?
As =vernavulpes has continued to talk about her yet to become community, =juuhanna was eager to follow the foundation. And not only =juuhanna, but many others have informed their interest to join the community of cardboard boxes. Thus the idea of creating the club came to existence.

If you don’t have a box yet, that’s okay. But we do recommend you to get one, since this is commune of carboard boxes.

Treat fellow members with respect, no matter how big or small their box is. All boxes are equal in our commune.

Our humble commune would appreciate if members would add us to their deviant-watch, and possibly link to us in their journals. It is after all the responsibility of a good member to give appreciation to the club and see it grow mightier. Especially since the club was foundated recently, little advertising wouldn’t harm us.

We'd also appreciate interest on the commune activities, if possible. For that, it would be important if you read "Gallery" section below.

If you desire to make a box-avatar for yourself, we'd appreciate that you wouldn't just take the box from existing avatar and add your own small touch to it, unless the original maker of the box gives you a permission. (Respect the © Copyright!) If you make a jumping box avatar for yourself, we'd appreciate that you mention our club and/or the founders, =vernavulpes and =juuhanna who started the whole jumping box avatar phenomena. Thank you.

It is recommended that a member would pose for a photo of him/herself sitting in a cardboard box, preferably in a public place (or at least outdoors), where the middle-class can be the target of our mockery for their richer material-possessions. Photo is just a proof of a member being active, and it will be a fun addition to our gallery.

It would be great if we could make this box commune photography project as worldwide as possible; so, the photographs of people from different nations in some kind of interaction with a box would be highly appreciated!

Also, you have any other mediums of box-related artowrk, be it traditional, digital, sculpture, we would happy to include it in our gallery.

None running at the moment, but we would appreciate some ideas. =]

Right, I seem to be the only admin of this club left. As far as I'm concerned, that is not a problem, and I'm more than happy to add new members, and submit new pieces (4 new guys added just now, and soon a new pic will drop into your inbox.)

The thing is, I'm slightly forgetful.

Well, ok, I have the memory of a sieve, and I even forgot this place existed til someone noted me pleading to add them to the club.

So, if you note this club to aplly to join or submit a new piece, and you hear nothing for a while, NOTE ME, ~mysterious-w, AND IF YOU GET NO REPLY, KEEP NOTING ME!!!

:aww:

btw, *MattGreen has gone on a hiatus from this site for greenier goonier pastures, and I dunno about the other 2 founders/admins.

Yes, this is as important as I'm trying to make it sound. :|

After our recent gallery change (in which commenting was disabled and users were requested to add the original artwork to their favourites) it has come to my attention that there are a few deviants who still seem intent on favouriting this commune's submissions. You know who you are, and I must request that you stop (although you probably won't because you're attention hungry fav-whores anyway ).

The deviants who contribute submissions to the commune are very important to us, and their efforts must be respected. Therefore, I must request again that, if you feel like adding a submission to your favourites, do so at the original deviation through the link provided, as stated in the deviation's description! I seriously cannot stress that enough, and I wish there were more HTML tags I could add to emphasize it further, but there aren't.

Anyone caught blatantly flauting this rule will be removed from the commune's member list. That's right: no more second chances. :aww: If you can't read a simple instruction, you'll be better off not being on a website that relies almost entirely on text-based communication, or online at all.

You all may not have expected a rant, but this really irritates me. Moreso because people's efforts are beginning to go to waste. What good is a commune when the efforts of our more active members are being exploited by those who can't abide by simple rules?

I apologise to anyone who's missed out on favourites as a result of this. There's very little that can be done. :(

I've been thinking about this for a while, now. I've decided to put this into action after seeing other clubs and after a recent note from a new member.

When a member submits something to this club, we get comments and favourites that don't rightly belong to us, as it is not our work. From now, all future submissions will have comments disabled, and a request not to favourite it. Instead, a link to the original deviation will be given in the description, to redirect deviant's commenting and favouriting there.

I will now go and ammend our entire gallery to this effect.

This should be a fair system, as the deviants who donated the submissions get the comments and favourites, which they rightly deserve.

If any of you have any constructive questions or comments, feel free to share.

Co-admins, please remember this when submitting work in the future. :) Disable comments and put the link to the original in the description. Thank you.

=MattGreen

EDIT: Our entire gallery has now been ammended and a new deviation has been submitted. Now, things can carry on as normal. If anyone has any further questions, please send a note or comment on this journal.

Our newest member, *William--Kain has generously bestowed a whopping year-long subscription for the commune! :excited: It's just what this place needed. I'm going to dress this journal up with some images, first of all, and I think it would be neat to have a little section for thumbnails of the "in a box" photographs you have given us. Any other suggestions for making this journal look better will be very much appreciated. I've started adding bits and pieces. Please tell me what you think. =]

:salute: *William--Kain Please go and pay our newest member a visit.
